Captain Arthur Phillip, R.N. Memorial Fountain

The Captain Arthur Phillip, R.N. Memorial Fountain, dedicated to the commander of the First Fleet that arrived in Sydney on 26 January 1788 and also first Governor of the Colony of New South Wales established with the arrival of the fleet. The figures surrounding the fountain all have a nautical theme. This monument is located within the Royal Botanic Gardens close to the eastern side of Macquarie Street's northern end. This monument complements the bust of Arthur Phillip located at Circular Quay adjacent to the Museum of Contemporary Arts.
