Aug. 15, 2020 My father Sub Lt. Patrick Howell was a pilot with 1851 Squadron. He passed away in 1982. He is in the photo of the squadron in the collection shown - he is the officer on the far right as you look at the picture. I have an original copy of this picture as well as a full album of photos he created throughout the war. I also have his flying log from throughout the period from his training to the end of the war. He attended a number of squadron reunions in the 1970s organised by Stanley Grinstead, also a pilot. I have to say I was a little shocked seeing the picture posted online. My brother was in 40 Commando in the Falklands - where of course the Venerable was the Argentinian carrier. Many thanks for posting the series of photos. Simon Howell Trowbridge Wiltshire |
