Daily Event for November 7, 2013

The launch of the cruiser Indianapolis CA-35 was witnessed by over 5,000 people at New York Shipbuilding Corp. in Camden, New Jersey on November 7, 1931. Cheers and whistles were heard as she slipped into the water for the first time after Miss Lucy Taggart had broken a bottle of water drawn from two Indiana rivers on her bows. Nobody on that day could have known that this ship would one day end up on the bottom of the ocean and that her crew would undergo such a unspeakable experience.
