January 1944: HMS Illustrious en route to the Pacific seen from HMS Unicorn.
(The 1st Battle Squadron including HM battleships Queen Elizabeth, Valiant, HM battlecruiser Renown, HM aircraft carriers Illustrious and Unicorn along with a destroyer screen departed the U.K. on Dec. 30, 1943 en route to the Pacific theater. The assumption is that this and the three photographs shown below were taken during this voyage.)
