2. Apr. 18, 2010 Just came across your web site while doing a little research. There is a photo of HMAS Sydney FFG 03, in the process of hooking up to USS Carl Vinson for a RAS(L) or UNREP as the USN calls it, on 7 June, 1986. I'm in that photo, about third in line (can't zoom close enough to be exact) pulling over the hoseline!! It was during RIMPAC 86. IIRC we had two attempts at getting the gear across. The first time, the weak link on the span wire let go when the it was tensioned up, sending everything flying back towards the dump party on the Vinson, they had sailors going everywhere to get out of the way.
