National Submarine Memorial
Gosport, England

A long retired ex-servicewoman (veteran) sits in contemplation at the submariners Wall of Remembrance. This UK National Memorial which names every submariner lost in the service of the country is found at the former headquarters of the Royal Navy Submarine Command, HMS DOLPHIN, at Gosport, Hampshire now the national Submarine Service Museum and Heritage site. Nearby is the preserved WWII submarine HMS ALLIANCE (qv) in front of which is a simple plaque noting the names of every submarine lost at sea.
