Albert Ernest Coates Memorial
Ballarat, Victoria, Australia

The memorial to Albert Ernest Coates, a surgeon with the Australian army during WWII who was taken prisoner by the Japanese and sent to the Thai-Burma Railway.  The memorial is located in the provincial city of Ballarat in Victoria, Australia and consists of the statue with base plaque surrounded by a further 9 plaques describing the life and times and achievements of Albert Coates. The Ballarat National Service Memorial can be seen in the Background.
