My father was a crew member in the Merchant Navy on this vessel from April 1943 until April 1945 I understand he may have been injured during the Salerno landings but up to now have been unable to access his medical records, although I have his naval service history. He had a scar on his back which ran from his left shoulder across to his right side of his waist line. He died in 1990 with the secret of how he had this scar.

He told me once he received it in Salerno, how true this is I do not know. He spoke very little about the war, although I know some details, he served at the Normandy landings and belong the local Normandy Veterans until his death and has medals including the Russian Convoy medal which was presented to him very late in life in the 1980's.

If anyone can remember my father, or have any suggestions how I can obtain his medical records or more information other that his service records, I would be pleased to hear from them.

My father was Keith Ellerby Service no R/237152 He also served on the HMS Mersey and HMS Nairana during his career and left service when he married my mother in May 1946. Anyone with information or help would be
appreciated.

Thank you,
Maureen Edwards
