July 18, 1932:
Launched, christened by Lurline Matson Roth.
Jan. 5, 1933:
Delivered to the Matson Line.
Jan. 12, 1933:
Maiden voyage New York-San Francisco-Los Angeles.
1933:
Placed on San Francisco-Los Angeles-Honolulu route.
Jan. 1935:
Transported Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Vega 5b to Honolulu for her solo transoceanic
flight from Honolulu to Oakland, California.
(Earhart was the first person to complete this flight departing Wheeler Army Airfield,
Honolulu, Hawaii on Jan. 11, 1935 completing the 2,408 mile flight to Oakland
17 hours and 7 minuets later, the aircraft is now on display at the Smithsonian Museum)

1942-46:
Used as troopship.
May 1946:
Returned to Matson Line and refit at Bethlehem Steel, Alameda, California.
Apr. 15, 1948:
First post-war voyage San Francisco-Los Angeles-Honolulu. Remained on this route until
sold.

1954:
Used in the movie Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki.
Feb. 3, 1963:
Arrived at Los Angeles with turbine damage, laid up as to uneconomical to repair.
Sept. 3, 1963:
Sold to Marfuenza Cia. S.A. (Chandris Line) Piraeus, Greece.
1963-64:
Refit at North Shields, England. New curved bow and new funnels fitted, bridge rebuilt.
New length 642' GRT 18,163, passenger accommodations changed to 1,668 in one class.
Renamed Ellinis.

Dec. 12, 1964:
Departed North Shields for Piraeus, Greece.
Dec. 30, 1964:
First voyage for Chandris Line Piraeus-Sydney, Australia.
1964:
Began around the world cruises Rotterdam, The Netherlands-Sydney, Australia-Rotterdam.
Continued cruising various routes until sold.

July 25, 1974:
Arrived at Rotterdam with a damaged turbine, it was replaced with one from Homeric (Ex-
Matsonia her sister).

Oct. 14, 1980:
Laid up at Piraeus, Greece.
1986:
Sold for scrap.
1987:
Scrapped in Taiwan, ROC.
