(British submarines sank three Italian submarines in March of 1942, there were some merchant ships sunk, but no cluster of nine.)

Note the report in columns 4-5: "Submarine Sank 4 Ships and U-Boat"
(The report about HMS Talisman, credits the boat with sinking 4 ships and a U-boat. Between Nov. 25, 1940 and Dec. 14, 1941, Talisman captured 1 40-ton sailing ship, sank two freighters, torpedoed a grounded freighter and engaged at least three submarines, none successfully. On Sept. 10, 1942 Lt. Cdr. Willmott, DSO, RN (pictured) and his Talisman, sailed from Gibraltar for Malta, on Sept. 14, Willmott sent a signal reporting the location of an enemy submarine and was never heard from again. The submarine sighted was the Italian submarine Albastro, which was sunk by a Sunderland aircraft. What happened to Talisman is still unknown.)

(The unnamed ship was the 5,920-ton Benmohr, which was sunk by U-505 on Mar. 5th. U-505 is on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois.)
