Mar. 3, 1935 the Italian submarine Pietro Calvi was launched at Odero-Terni-Orlando in Muggiano, Italy. She was lost on July 15, 1942 when HMS Lulworth Y-60 depth charged the boat and forced her to surface. Forty- three crewman on the Pietro Calvi were killed in the action which began July 14 at 22:30 hours. One man from Lulworth, Lt. Frederick W. North RN boarded the submarine, but was lost when the boat sank. |
