Daily Event for October 26, 2006

While escorting convoy ON-206 on October 26, 1944 the Norwegian corvette Rose K-102 was rammed and sunk by the HMS Manners K-568. Rose was hit amidships on the starboard side and went down fast. All but 3 of the 75 crewmen on board made it to safety. One man stayed behind and disabled the depth charges so they would not detonate after the ship sank. He was pulled under but managed to surface and was rescued.
