Two ships were lost on this day. 1902 the Lake Superior was wrecked at St John, New Brunswick and in 1910 the Pericles was wrecked at Cape Leewin, West Australia. Lake Superior was scrapped on site but Pericles sank two and a half hours after hitting an uncharted reef. No lives were lost in either case.
