For years I've played around with the idea of matching my Fathers service record to his ship. Today I read an article in "Wikipedia" that confirmed one piece of the puzzle. Under the heading 1951-1955 there is an entry about a collision with the Destroyer/Minesweeper Hobson on 26 April 1952. I remember my father telling us the story of that collision. One story was that of a kitchen personnel actually walking from the destroyer to the Wasp without getting a scratch. (I never found out if the story was true or not.) The stories he told us were about his time on the flight deck. He told stories of the wire that caught the planes and stories about the Corsair, "The Ensign Eliminator." My hope is that I can retrieve some information on duty dates, rosters, rank achieved, and the like.

My father was Robert William Scott.
Born: 26 February 1931
Deceased: 28 December 2001

Can you add his name to the roster? If you find anything at all about his service history it will be greatly appreciated. I'm sure my little sister knows more of his stories.

Regards,
Herb Scott
