The remains of the forward funnel which exploded off Hastings on Sept. 9, 1859 on display at the SS Great
Britain Trust Maritime Museum in Bristol, England. The funnel was purchased by Weymouth (Dorsetshire) Waterworks Company and installed at the deep end of Sutton Poynte as a shaft for the water supply where it remained for many years, it was donated to the SS Great Britain Trust by Wessex Water.
