The Grand Harbour, Valletta, Malta, HMS Hermes is seen in the center of the photograph.

April 27 - May 1, 1926: The Grand Harbour, Malta. The French battleship Bretagne (top left) is seen during a port visit of the French Naval Minister. From left to right are HM battleships Queen Elizabeth, Royal Oak (in floating drydock) and Barham, HMS Hermes and an unidentified destroyer are seen at right. (Identification of vessels made by Mike Griffiths.)

No information is available about this photograph.
(Note: The Fleet Air Arm Museum suggests (not identifies) the picture as taken at Leuchars, sometime between May and November 1924; they think the aircraft is a Fairey 111D of 441 Flight and although they cannot read the cap ribbons, they think that the word shapes could be HMS Hermes.)

An unidentified destroyer making smoke.

The collection spans several decades and is filled with many rare and some never before published photographs and were are very grateful that he has allowed us to publish the collection.

We also wish to thank Patrick Langrishe without whom the collection could not have been published. Patrick scanned and rescanned the collection in order to obtain the fine quality images presented here. Thanks must also go to Philip J.
