Note the headline report: "Nazi Convoy Annihilated"
(This time the details given to the press were accurate. A convoy of five cargo ships, (Adana, Ageina, Arta, Iserlohn and Sabaudia) bound for Rommel's Afrika Korps, escorted by three Italian destroyers, (Baleno, Lampo and Luca Tarigo) was attacked by Force K (H.M. destroyers Jervis, Janus, Mohawk and Nubian.) Every ship in the convoy was sunk. Only one of the destroyers (Lampo) was later raised and returned to service. The British lost one destroyer, HMS Mohawk. Lampo was sunk Apr. 30, 1943 by USAAF aircraft.)
Also note the report in column 6: "Scheer In Indian Ocean"
(The report stated that a Nazi raider, possibly Admiral Scheer, sank the French passenger ship Commissaire Ramel. Scheer did not, but the Hilfskreuzer [auxiliary cruiser] Atlantis did. But this occurred seven months earlier on Sept. 20, 1940. Why this was being reported now is unclear to me. On Apr. 17, 1941 Admiral Scheer was at Deutsche Werke in Kiel, Germany undergoing repair, not in the Indian Ocean.)
