[Historical note: On Dec. 18, 1940 Adolf Hitler released Directive #21 entitled Operation Barbarossa. This was the first official announcement to the German general staff confirming that Hitler was ordering the invasion of the Soviet Union. The first sentence reads; "The German Armed Forces must be ready to crush Soviet Russia in a rapid campaign, even before the termination of the war with Britain."]

(The British, after protesting the possible executions of two British women by the Germans, now prepared to execute a woman in England, Dorothy Pamela O'Grady, for being a German spy. However, in Feb. 1941, her death sentence would be suspended.)

(The tanker Pendrecht had been damaged by a torpedo from U-96, but made port. She was sunk June 8, 1941 by U-48. The Norwegian tanker Dalfonn may have been attacked, but I have no record of the incident, she survived the war and was scrapped in 1960. The Napier Star was the only ship of the three which sank. U-100 sent it and 71 men to the bottom of the sea.)
