The Imperial Japanese Navy launched two battleships on this day in 1919. The Mutsu was launched at Yokosuka and the Nagato at Kure. Mutsu was sunk June 8, 1943, but Nagato was the only Japanese battleship to survive the war, she was sunk during the atomic bomb tests (Operation Crossroads) in 1946. |
