Sept. 8, 1959 the Charles F. Adams DDG-2 was launched at Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine. The lead ship in
the class the Charles F. Adams class destroyers were a successful design and twenty-three were built for the
U.S. Navy. In addition six others were built for Australia and Germany (Perth and Lütjens Classes).
