May 10, 1902 the USS Stewart Destroyer #13 was launched. Even though she was placed in reserve in 1907 and reclassified as a coast torpedo boat in 1916, Stewart served through WW1 in the Canal zone and finally as a convoy escort. She rescued nine survivors from the Florence H at Quiberon Bay, France after the freighter exploded on Apr. 17, 1918 and attacked the U-108 on the 23rd. She was decommissioned in 1919 and scrapped. |
