Daily Event for May 10


May 10, 1908 the Hohenzollern, a North German Lloyd steamer, was wrecked at Alghero, Sardinia. She had
been built as the Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1889 and served NDL mostly on the New York route with six trips to
Australia. Renamed Hohenzollern in 1900 by 1906 she was relegated to the Mediterranean. After the wreck
she was refloated but found to be damaged beyond economic repair and was scrapped.
