The Protection of Wrecks (Designation No. 2) Order 1998

Coming into force 26th November 1998
The Secretary of State, being satisfied that the site identified in article 2 of this Order is the site of a vessel lying wrecked on or in the sea bed and that, on account of the historical and archaeological importance of the vessel the site ought to be protected from unauthorised interference; after consulting with the persons referred to in section 1(4) of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 1(1), (2) and (4) and section 3(2) of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order-

Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as The Protection of Wrecks (Designation No. 2) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 26th November 1998.

Identification of site and designation of restricted area
2. - (1) The site in respect of which this Order is made is hereby identified as the site where the vessel HMS A1 lies wrecked on the sea bed at Latitude 50°44'.52 North, Longitude 00°55'.19 West.

(2) The area within a distance of 100 metres of Latitude 50°44'.52 North, Longitude 00°55'.19 West, but excluding any part of that area which lies above high water mark of ordinary spring tides, shall be a restricted area for the purposes of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.
