Hessen as a remote control target ship seen at the entrance to Kiel harbor sometime after 1937.

One of the guns mounted in SMS Hessen now on display at the Australian War Memorial, Campbell, ACT, Australia. This gun, after removal from Hessen, was mounted on a railway carriage and was known as the Amiens gun. Used to fire on the French town of Amiens during the Great War, it was captured by men of the Australian Imperial Force on Aug. 8, 1918 and brought to Australia as a war trophy in 1920.
