February 1930: "Conducted Belgian party returns to U.S.A." on Aquitania. Bertha Beels, second woman from right (polka dot hat), went to Detroit, Michigan to work there as a servant. Her brother, Julius Beels, had emigrated in 1914 and had arranged work for her. She returned to Belgium in 1938 and remained here till her death. |
