(HMS Usk sailed from Malta on Apr. 19, 1941 and never returned. To this day, the cause of the loss has not been determined.)

(HMS Upholder sank the Italian passenger ship Conte Rosso, with the loss of more than 1,200 troops. Upholder also torpedoed the French freighter (not tanker) Capitaine Damiani, but the ship did not sink.)

(Former world heavyweight champion, Max Schmeling, reportedly killed in Crete. He had been part of the German parachute troops dropped into Crete and had reportedly been captured. The claim is that he was shot after seizing a rifle and trying to escape.)
