(The Focke-Wulf Fw-200 Condor (called Kurier by the Allies at the time) had been flying since 1937. The repot is correct in that these aircraft were used to locate and sink merchant ships. They also worked in concert with the U-Boats, directing them to targets that were unseen to them.)
