(The report in column 1 is about the SS Hertford. Which hit a mine laid by the German Hilfskreuzer Pinguin, but did not sink. She did not survive the war however, she was sunk by U-571 on Mar. 29, 1942.)

(The report claims that there is a large photo of one of the new German battleships [Bismarck or Tirpitz] on the front page of the Sunday edition of the Völkischer Beobachter. As you can see below, there is no such photo in the edition that I have. A photo claiming to be of one of the new battleships appears in the Dec. 10 edition, but it is on page 3 and is not of a battleship, but of a cruiser, either Admiral Scheer or Prinz Eugen.)
