Note the headline and report in column 5: "British Liner and Freighter Shelled In Mid-Atlantic: Raider Like Graf Spee"
(It was true that the passenger ship Rangitiki had been shelled and it was also true that the raider was like the Admiral Graf Spee. In fact, the raider was a sister ship, the Admiral Scheer. On this one day, in this one action, Admiral Scheer managed to sink six ships (Beaverford, Fresno City, Kenbane Head, Maiden, Trewellard) and the armed merchant cruiser HMS Jervis Bay. A seventh ship, Mopan, had been sunk earlier in the day. The attack on convoy HX-84 may have been the single greatest combat victory for one ship in one day during the whole of World War II.)
