(At least 5 raiders (hilfskreuzer) were operating in October of 1940, Atlantis, Widder, Orion, Pinguin and Thor. None of them sank 3 ships, but together they sank 4 ships in October of 1940. Neither of the two ships mentioned were operating in the open oceans. Lützow was at Deutsche Werke at Kiel under repair and Admiral Scheer was in the Baltic Sea on a working up cruise after a repair period.)
