Note the report in column 4: "Black Death Raging In East Asia"
(The report states that this is the worst outbreak since 1923 when 10 million people died in India alone. I don't know where the Australian Associated Press found that number, but doing basic research, according to a Jan. 30, 1925 report, there were about 400,000 cases of bubonic plague in 1923, over 90% being in India. The report also states that in the years, 1903-1907 there were 1 million deaths per year in India from plague. I can find no evidence that an outbreak, killing over 10 million people, occurred in 1923.)

Note the report at bottom right: "Time Bomb Found On U.S. Army Transport; 2,550 Were In Peril"
(The report states that a bomb, which contained 2 quarts of nitroglycerine, was found in the hold of USAT Republic. The man who discovered the bomb, Master-at Arms Henry F. Dodd, was, according to the report, the only witness. He removed the bomb and threw it overboard, nobody else is reported to have seen the bomb. In an addendum to the report, the Army said that they had received no such report. I can find no evidence that a bomb was ever found in the ship.)
