The steamer Loch Lintrathen was built by Tyne Iron Shipbuilding Company in 1899 for the Dundee Loch Line. In 1906 she was sold to Maclay & McIntyre of Glasgow and renamed Craigendoran. On March 3, 1917 during a voyage from Barry, England to Malta she was torpedoed and sunk by SMS U-37 about 7 miles east of Cape Sigli, Algeria. Three crewmen were killed and the master and chief engineer were taken prisoner. |
