August 15, 1896 the 4,820 ton passenger/cargo ship Konig was launched at Reiherstiegwerft at Hamburg, Germany for the Deutsche Ost Africa-Linie. Nineteen years and two days later, Aug. 17, 1915, HMS Hyacinth shelled and sank her at Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
