Daily Event for January 26, 2010

With global warming ravaging the planet northern ports that would normally be frozen over 3 feet thick with ice were open and in Turku, Finland the cargo ship Murmansky was successfully launched at the shipyard of William Crichton & Company AB. The 167' long 504 ton ship was built for a Russian company for use on the White Sea in almost record time, just four months from keel laying in September to launch in January.

Of course if the winter had been normal the building process would have been much longer, but somehow even without automobiles emitting greenhouse gasses the winter was still very warm, this is because the automobile had not yet been invented, the launching took place on Jan. 26, 1882, the automobile was not invented until 1889.
