Feb. 24, 1921 the passenger/cargo ship Doricstar was launched at Lithgows in Port Glasgow, Scotland. In 1939 her name was slightly changed to Doric Star, later in the year on Dec. 2, 1939 while sailing alone, she was located by the German cruiser Admiral Graf Spee, captured and sunk. All her crew survived, but many were held prisoner aboard the Altmark until they were rescued by HMS Cossack on Feb. 16, 1940. |
