Daily Event for July 25, 2008

On July 25, 2006 the sailing yacht Mureadrittas XL, returning from Hawaii to San Francisco, was hit by a surfacing whale about 450 miles north of Oahu, Hawaii. Efforts to pump out the water failed and the four people on board took to the lifeboat. After some hours they were located by a U.S. Coast Guard C-130 and picked up by the cargo ship Maersk Darwin. They were transferred to the fishing vessel Kami M and returned to Hawaii.
