The Danish cargo ship Söborg was built in 1899 by the Short Brothers in Sunderland, on May 30, 1915 she was torpedoed and sunk by SMS U-16 about 40 miles from the mouth of the Tyne River. Twenty-two men were on the ship at the time, all were picked up by SS Tore Jarl and landed safely. |
