Daily Event for March 10

There were two Italian submarines named Guglielmotti, and both were sunk by the Royal Navy. The first one
was a World War 1 boat launched on June 4, 1916 and on March 10, 1917, less than a year later, the sloop
HMS Cyclamen rammed her and sent her to the bottom with fourteen of her crew. This was a terrible accident
as the Italians were not at war with the British.

In the first half of the Second World War the Italians were at war with the British so when the HMS Unbeaten
torpedoed and sank the second Guglielmotti on March 17, 1942 it was no accident.
