May 21, 1936 the Italian submarine Gemma was launched at CRDA in Monfalcone, Italy. Gemma had a tragic
end on Oct. 8, 1940 when the Italian submarine Tricheco torpedoed her in error, sending her and all forty four
members of her crew to the bottom.
