Jan. 9, 1920 the freighter Treville ran aground near Weymouth, England and broke in two. The ferocity of the storm that caused the wreck prevented the local lifeboat from reaching the wreck so the crew decided to abandon the ship. Sadly the lifeboat capsized killing 36 of the crew leaving only 7 survivors. A few days later a ship attempting to salvage the cargo hit the wreck and promptly sank. The Treville's wreck remained there and two years later the SS Glenmore collided with the wreck and sank nearby. |
