Daily Event for October 23, 2006

On October 23, 1918 HMS G-7, while on patrol in the North Sea, sent her final message. Sometime after this
transmission the submarine was lost with all hands for unknown reasons. To date the wreck has not been located. HMS G-7 was the last combat related submarine loss for the British in the Great War. The last British submarine lost due to the war was the HMS G-11, a sister to the G-7, which was wrecked in dense fog near Harwich after being recalled from patrol duty, two crewmen were killed and the boat was a total loss.
