Daily Event for July 26

July 26, 1919 the Hauroto, a 285' passenger steamer built in 1882, sailed from Hong Kong bound for Saigon. With 180 souls on board the almost 40 year old ship ran into a typhoon. What happened in the final moments will never be known for she went down with all hands.
