Daily Event for September 15


September 15, 1909: The Umhlali a 3,388 grt passenger/cargo ship was wrecked near Cape Point, South Africa. Bound for Durban from England the captain found himself in a heavy fog bank and lost his bearing. No lives were lost but the ship was declared a total loss and was abandoned.
