November 15, 1932: The USS Indianapolis CA-35 was commissioned and place under the command of John M. Smeallie. We all know what happened to the Indy so I won't go into her history other than to say, Indy and her crew delivered the atomic bomb to Tinian and won ten battle stars in World War 2.
