Daily Event for November 11

November 11,1915: The Italian ship Iniziativa sailed from Swansea bound for Italy and was lost with all hands. Built in 1881 by Steven & Sons in Glasgow she was used on the north Atlantic route from Palermo to New York. At only 2,032 GRT she was most likely used by Italian emigrants coming to the new world. She stayed on this route until at least 1894. On Nov. 11, 1915 she sailed with a cargo of coal and was never seen again.

November 11, 1918: On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month the guns went silent and World War 1 came to an end.

Happy Veterans Day/Remembrance Day. Thanks to all who have served , we would not be free if it were not for you. Thanks to all who are still serving keeping the flame of freedom burning for all those who yearn to be free.
