Am looking for any information about the ship from the men. My Dad was 50 also when I was born. Dad has been gone a long time, approximately 45 years now. Found this site and it is so informative and interesting.

Sincerely,
Marilyn H. Butterworth

I am looking for  information about my dad, Lewis J. Smith, stationed on the USS Delaware in Cuba and Panama (those were the two locations that he spoke about). I know that there probably aren't any men surviving from then but I was hoping that someone had written down some of the stories. Is there any website, book, article, captain's log that I might turn to in my quest to know my dad?

He was 50 when I was born and rarely spoke about his early life. In 1981, when I had an opportunity to fly into Gitmo to bring a trawler back to the states, was the first time he spoke at all about his service in the navy. Should I use your message board to look for others like I, searching for info, stories, photos, and what-not? I appreciate any thoughts.

Most Sincerely,
Theresa Smith Gilbertson
