Class Notes:
1941-42:
All except Shimakaze, Nadakaze and Yakaze had the 4.7"/45 guns replaced with
2 x 4.7"/50 and 10 x 25mm AA machine guns.
Torpedo tubes reduced to 2.
Minelaying and minesweeping equipment removed and equipped with
depth charge launchers. (carrying 36 depth charges)

1944:
Anti-aircraft guns increased to between 13-20 x 25mm
Additionally 5 x 13mm AA were added.
Displacement increased to 1,350 tons and speed reduced to 35 knots.

Sept. 1944:
Namikaze was damaged by a mine and converted into a Kaiten carrier.
Could carry 2 Kaiten's

Jan. 1945:
Shiokaze damaged and converted into a Kaiten carrier.
Could carry 4 Kaiten's

1945:

Sawakaze fitted with 5.9" 9 barrel anti-submarine rocket launcher.
This was an experimental weapon fitted to the forecastle.
