July 10, 1945: Front page of The Racine Journal-Times, Racine, Wisconsin. The story "13 Yanks Lost on Ship Sunk in English Channel" appears in column 6 at the bottom of the page. Due to censorship laws news about the sinking, which happened December 28, 1944, was not released until July 1945. While most papers ran the story, only a few editors chose to make it front page news.
