Looking for any details about my father who served on HMS Eagle in the 1950's. His name was Clifford Guy Barber and he was from Cadgwith, Cornwall. He was born in 1933 and passed away in 2021. He trained in Gosport at HMS St Vincent.

I am working on my family tree and would love to find out more information about my uncles naval time. I was about 5 when I last saw him. His name is James (Jim) Cleaver and I believe he served on HMS Eagle back in the 50's. If anyone could help that would be most appreciated.

Thank you,
Neil Thomas

I was on commission crew in 1952 at Belfast. We were in Plymouth at the King's death after shake down cruise before Spithead Review. We went to Brighton and then to Blackpool, anchored off north pier. Treated like royalty while ashore then on to Pompey. Wed id night flying exercises in the Arctic (got our blue nose certificates) then to the Med and Malta and home. A very happy ship. I left it December 1953. On her last commission she came to Fremantle where we were asked on board by the Captain. I felt honored to be piped on board along with my wife.

I was on board Eagle for my 21st birthday 13 March 1953. A few mates had a great celebration in Gibraltar's high street. Met French sailors from their ship tied up ahead of ours. Never forget my 21st.

I'm trying to trace the history of my Grandad, Ronald Lupton, who served on HMS Eagle between approx. 1950-1951. If anyone has any stories, photographs or any information they could send my way that would be fantastic.

Thank you,
Gary Lupton

I am trying to contact people on behalf of my Uncle, Joseph Morley, who was on board the Eagle in 1955, working in the engine room. Joe destroyed all of his photographs of himself as a younger person, including any that he had from his time in the Navy and on board the HMS Eagle, and now he is in his advancing years he would love to see himself as he was then. He's suffering with several mental health issues and this would be a real positive for him and the family. Any help at all would be hugely appreciated.

Regards,
Chris Jackson

I served on Eagle during acceptance into the R.N. as a stoker/mech. My best friend aboard was Allan (Joe) Cotton. We both left the ship late 1953, both to get married. Love to get back in touch or news.

Thanks a lot,
Kenth Moore

I don't know if this is right but I am looking for a sailor who was on the HMS Eagle when she came to Wellington in 1971. His name is Christopher James Mansfield. My family and others took various sailors into our homes for the duration of their stay. Would be interested to know what happened to him as we lost contact late 1970's. Thank you for your help.

My mother, Doris  McKeone, was in 1972 the Lady Captain of the Royal Durban Golf Club. While checking  through some of the great functions over the years we remembered having the pleasure of hosting Lt. Commander Arthur Portwine and the 0fficers. We were so impressed by the respect, but also comradeship. The other venue, Durban Country Club and again the display of respect, but always the British sense of humour. For records re special functions over the years we would appreciate a response as to whether the Lt. Commander and most of the officers are able to enjoy retirement and continue to be part of the most prestigious Navy.

Stay safe,
Lee (McKeone) Rickard

My father served on Eagle when it visited Blackpool in July 1953 as part of the Spring Tour. A couple of years ago the RNLI kindly scattered his ashes out at sea near to where Eagle anchored off North Pier. My father, Frank Smith, is stood by helicopter door when Mayor Edwin Smith and Town Clerk, Trevor Jones were welcomed aboard ship. I want to find out where else Eagle visited as part of that tour, can you help ???

Kind regards,
Russell Smith

I am looking for any information about my father, Robert Telford Hughes. He was born in 1937 so he would have been a very young man - only 19 - when he was on the HMS Eagle in 1956 during the Suez Crisis. He is now 82 and has Alzheimer's Disease - but he still remembers being in the Royal Navy and being on board the HMS Eagle and going to Malta, Cyprus and Istanbul. If anyone had any memories or stories to augment his recall about his service it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Kerry Hughes

I am making enquiries about my father Peter Budden who served on the HMS Eagle through the mid to late 40's and into the 1950's. Dad passed away last week and we are trying to gather information relating to his naval service to include in his memorial service. As we don't have his service number we are struggling to gain any information through official channels. If anyone could provide us with information pertaining to his career and when and where he served it would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards,
Michael Budden
