My friend has in her possession a locket, inside is a photo of a Victorian lady with a lock of hair. On the back of the locket there is an inscription to "Irene Lynn Dennes presented to her on SS Oceana 9.8.1892. on behalf of her mothers services to the ship."

I have done some research and Irene is the daughter of Emily J. Dennes Ne Whittle born in Australia in 1866. Irene Lynn Dennes went to England in 1892, I cannot find anything out about her mother. Are there any records that show any presentations made on the ship? I have spent hours trying to find any information, I came upon your website and thought you might help.
